We don't collect card numbers. Stripe handles payments directly.
Cookies. We only use cookies needed to keep you signed in and to keep the site secure. We don't use advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers. [If you add analytics later, name the tool here.]
Who we share it with
We don't sell your personal information or "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We give data only to the service providers that run the Service for us, and only what each one needs:

We use Gemini's paid API tier, under which Google does not use the text we send to improve its products.
When we pick stock background footage or images for an Output, we send short search words (for example "kinetic sand" or a topic from your transcript) to the stock libraries Pixabay and Unsplash. They don't receive your files or your account details. Narrated recaps are voiced by a speech model that runs on our own servers, so the script isn't sent to a voice provider. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect someone's safety. If the business is sold, your data may transfer to the buyer under this policy.
How long we keep it
- Uploaded files and Outputs: deleted automatically 7 days after you last work on them, or sooner if you delete them.
- Transcripts and job records: deleted at the same time as the files.
- Account details: kept while your account is open, then deleted within 30 days of closing it.
- Billing records: kept as long as tax law requires, usually up to 7 years.
- Server logs: kept up to 30 days.
- Backups: we don't keep backups of uploaded files or Outputs.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information by emailing support@recapsmith.com from your account email. We'll reply within 30 days. You can delete files and your account yourself in the app.
Depending on where you live (for example California, or the EU/UK), you may have more rights, such as objecting to processing or complaining to a data protection authority. We won't treat you differently for using any of these rights.
Legal bases (EU/UK users): we process your data to perform our contract with you (running the Service), for our legitimate interests (security and improving the product), to meet legal obligations (tax records), and with your consent where we ask for it.
Where data is processed
We and our providers process data in the United States and possibly other countries. When we transfer data out of the EU or UK, we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses.
Security
We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), hashed passwords, access controls, and automatic deletion. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we'll tell you as the law requires.
Children
The Service is not for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect children's personal information. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we'll email you or show a notice in the app before the change takes effect.
